THE HISTORIC BUILDING IN KARATAY IS BEING RESTORED IN COMPLIANCE WITH ITS REGISTRATION

HASAN KILCA: WE ENTRUST ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL ARTIFACT OF OUR ANCESTORS TO KARATAY'S FUTURE

Karatay Municipality, which has performed many works to carry the historical and cultural riches of Karatay into the future, is restoring a historical building near the Piri Mehmed Pasha Mosque in compliance with its registration. Hasan Kılca, the Mayor of Karatay, who stated that they have carried exemplary projects in order to protect the heritage of our civilization and our ancestors and carry them into the future, said; “We are entrusting another historical artifact from our past to the future”

Karatay Municipality is working carefully to preserve the historical buildings in the district and hand them down to the next generations.

In this context, Karatay Municipality is restoring the historical building near the Piri Mehmed Pasha Mosque in Aziziye Neighbourhood in compliance with its registration. The said construction, which was built in the form of two floors, in the plan type with an interior sofa, and made of masonry wall technique, and mainly wooden materials, is one of the most beautiful examples of civil architecture.

The restoration of the building, going back to the end of the 19th century and the first quarter of the 20th century, which contributes to the cultural and historical treasure of the city, will cost approximately 4 million liras. Restoration works shall be completed soon, and it is aimed to gain the building to Konya tourism.

UNIQUE LEGACY OF KARATAY CARRIED INTO THE FUTURE

Hasan Kılca, the Mayor of Karatay, underlined that the historical building, for which restoration works have come to an end, is one of the most beautiful examples of the traditional architectural values of Karatay and Konya and said that they will complete the restoration of the building, which was constructed with its unique architecture, and bring the building to tourism.

Mayor Hasan Kılca, who emphasized that they continued their projects to preserve the historical and cultural heritage of our country and the city, said the following; “As a municipality, we are doing our part to preserve the historical, cultural, and traditional identity of our district and city, and to carry the precious heritage into the future. In this context, we are restoring the historical building near the Piri Mehmed Pasha Mosque in compliance with its registration. We almost came to the end of the restoration of our building, which goes back to the end of the 19th century and the first quarter of the 20th century and is a good example of the traditional architectural texture of our city. By completing the restoration of the building, constructed with the rich texture of history and its incomparable architecture, we will bring it to tourism. We also place great importance on the historical building, as it is in a place which we can call the heart of our district. We, the Karatay Municipality, will both protect our history and hand it down the future generations. Such projects will provide bringing the historical and cultural beauties of our district into the forefront.”
