KARATAY MUNICIPALITY ESTABLISHES SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAM

A TEAM OF 60 PERSONS CONSISTING OF VOLUNTEERS RECEIVE THEORETICAL AND FIELD TRAINING

HASAN KILCA: EVERYONE SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR ANY DISASTERS

Karatay Municipality established a search and rescue team consisting of volunteer personnel. The team of 60 people, organized to respond to any possible disaster that may occur in Konya or throughout the country, from earthquake to fire, flood to storm, also carried out theoretical and field training. Hasan Kılca, the Mayor of Karatay, emphasized that the country should be prepared for all kinds of disasters.

Karatay Municipality established a search and rescue team to be prepared for all possible disasters, especially earthquakes. Karatay Municipality Search and Rescue Team, consisting of 60 voluntary municipal personnel, also started theoretical and practical field training.

THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL TRAINING GIVEN TO THE TEAM OF 60 PEOPLE

The training given by Konya Metropolitan Municipality, Department of Fire Brigade, and Fire Training Center was held in Ilgın. The two-day training was given by Konya Metropolitan Municipality, Department of Fire Brigade, through the Head of Search and Rescue Ibrahim Navruz, fire brigade sergeant Enes Kundarıcı, Fire Service Instructor Serkan Özyay, and Fire Service Instructor Haydar Gazi Çetin.

Training, consisting of 48 hours in total and given within a special program, includes many subjects such as techniques of use of search- rescue equipment as well as search-rescue activities, rescue techniques in traffic accidents, first aid, high and low angle (rope access) rescue, search- rescue techniques in nature and search- rescue on the wreckage.

KARATAY'S VOLUNTEER TEAM IS READY FOR ANY POSSIBLE DISASTER

In the training given by expert teams, training programs are applied to the volunteer personnel to increase their theoretical, practical, knowledge skills, and physical abilities and to ensure that they are always on call. Karatay Municipality Search and Rescue Team, which aims to provide search, rescue, first aid, and social aid services in disasters, floods, and important accidents, will be on call after the completion of the training.

EVERYONE SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR ANY DISASTERS

Karatay Mayor Hasan Kılca wished the Search-Rescue Team they organized good luck and stated that they, as Karatay, are prepared for all possible disasters.

He said, “The importance of search-rescue teams was seen once again, especially after the 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude earthquakes in the Pazarcık district of Kahramanmaraş on the night of February 6 that were felt in 11 provinces. We, the Karatay Municipality, have organized our search-rescue team to be ready for any possible disaster in our district, in our city, in the surrounding provinces, or anywhere in our country. Our team, consisting of 60 volunteer personnel in total, received both theoretical and practical field training. These pieces of training will continue at regular intervals until our team is fully ready. I hope we do not experience any disasters, but everyone should be ready at any time. In all possible emergencies, we will be at the disposal of our citizens and our country with our search-rescue team. I congratulate all our friends who joined the team".
