The foundation of the "Barrier-free Life Center" was laid by Karatay Municipality. The project, which is the largest center of Turkey in its field and the first center of Konya, will cost approximately 120 million liras. Karatay Mayor Hasan Kılca said; “Both our special individuals and their families will benefit from the Barrier-free Life Center”. AK Party Konya Deputy Candidate Mustafa Hakan Özer said; "All our municipalities provide services without saying this is not my job, without pretexting". AK Party Konya Deputy Saadet Armağan Güleç Korumaz said; “It is a proud to construct Turkey's largest barrier-free living center in Karatay”

Karatay Municipality is adding a new one every day to the investments it has brought to the district. The foundation of Turkey's largest and Konya's first Barrier-Free Life Center, which the municipality will bring to the city in this context, was laid with a ceremony.

BARRIER-FREE LIFE CENTER TO COST 120 MILLION

At the same time, this important project, which is the 135th investment of Karatay Municipality, whose foundation was laid in the last four years, will be built on a 7,200 construction area in Köprübaşı Mahallesi Gazali Sokak.  The “Barrier-free Life Center” will include the followings: Library, Painting and Visual Arts Workshop, Science Workshop, Indoor Sports Hall, Pastry and Cooking Workshop, Ceramics and Clay Workshop, Computer Workshop, Music Workshop, Press and Printing Workshop, Handicrafts Workshop, Recycling Workshop, Dance Workshop, Drama Workshop, Conference Hall, Speech Disorder Education Center, Special Learning Disability Education Center, Visually Impaired Education Center, Hearing Impaired Education Center, Physiotherapy Room Center, Mentally Disabled Education Center, Pervasive Development Disorder Education Center, Psychiatry and Social Services Center, Activity Halls, Rest and Sleeping Rooms, Sensory Integration Room, Observation Room, Emotional Relaxation Room, and Practice House.

IT WILL BE A VERSATILE CENTER FOR DISABLED INDIVIDUALS

 Hasan Kılca, the Mayor of Karatay, stated in his speech at the center's groundbreaking program, that all requests from disabled citizens living in Karatay and their families were evaluated to perfection and that the "Barrier-free Life Center" project was shaped accordingly.

Stating that the Barrier-free Life Center will make important contributions to facilitating the participation of disabled individuals in education and social life, Mayor Hasan Kılca said; “We are laying the foundation of Turkey's largest and Konya's first Barrier-free Life Center together. I believe that our citizens, who do not face obstacles, will make our society much stronger. Our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, underlined in the Election Declaration that special studies shall be performed within the framework of minimizing the obstacles to be encountered by disabled people in daily life, making their lives easier and showing sensitivity to the point of employment. We, the Karatay Municipality, have speeded up our work in the direction of our goal of 'An Barrier-Free Karatay', and we have implemented many projects and arrangements so far. As it is known, our Alzheimer's  Day Care Center was brought to Konya with the support of our municipality, Necmettin Erbakan University, Turkey Alzheimer's Association, the Konya Branch, and benevolent. For years, this center has been carrying out many studies related to the personal development of our elders with Alzheimer's disease, therapies, nutrition, and health. In the report prepared by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2019, our center was held up as an important example in the world in terms of social services and activities. As of today, we are implementing our 'Barrier-free Life Center' project within the framework of the same sensitivity, service understanding, and goals. We are happy and excited about laying the foundation of our Barrier-free Life Center, one of the reflections of our purpose and responsibility to provide service to all segments of society. While our individuals who will benefit from the Barrier-free Life Center we will build, and participate in social and cultural activities, our families will also spare time for their lives and make their lives better.”

WE AIM TO TOUCH EVERY HEART

Hasan Kılca shared the following information about Karatay Barrier-free Life Center; “The current investment cost of our Barrier-free Life Center, which has a construction area of 7,200 square meters and will consist of Training rooms, Day Care Units, Workshops, Indoor Sports Hall, Conference Hall, Development and Training Centers, Psychiatry and Social Services Center and Activity Halls, is TRY 120 million. As we exert effort to deliver service to every corner of Karatay, we aim to touch every household and every heart. When we multiply the joy of all our fellow citizens, we will have our dream of beautiful and another Karatay. I believe that our Barrier-free Life Center, for which we laid the foundation, will add joy and happiness to the daily lives of our citizens while increasing the quality of life of Karatay and the achievement of our district. I wish all the best to our district and Konya  with our center.”

AN EXAMPLE INVESTMENT IN A BARRIER-FREE LIFE CENTER

Ibrahim Akyüz, the Konya Provincial Director of Family and Social Services said, “The families of our special individuals have often told us that they need a center where they can socialize even for a few hours and meet some of their needs. In the face of this huge demand, the work of the social center, which was planned to be realized as a result of the protocol signed between our Governorship, Karatay Municipality, and our directorate, was initiated. Our center, which we will lay the foundation of today and which we plan to open shortly, will be at the disposal service of all special individuals and their families and will serve as a model project for our city”.

Mehmet Genç, AK Party Karatay District Head said; “We, the AK Party, do not engage in a politics of words. In this context, I wish all the best to our district and our city. with the Karatay Barrier-free Life Center implemented. I would like to thank everyone, especially our Mayor of Karatay, who contributed.”

After the speeches, the foundation of Karatay Barrier-free Life Center, to be brought to Köprübaşı Neighbourhood, was laid with prayers.
